Looks and works great November 17, 2008 I've had this for well over a year now, and it's still kicking. The variable speed fan is nice, during the cooler winter months I can turn it down, and in the hot summer I can crank it up for maximum efficiency.
One minor issue, the leds in the fan stopped working at some point, I'm not sure when since I have a number of other fans in the case that also have blue leds, so there was always blue light in the case. I have a window in the side so it's nice to have the glowing cables etc. I just noticed it the other day when I was replacing a hard disk and was running it with the side off and looking around in there.
I would buy again, probably a higher output unit next time, since each year we seem to need more and more stuff with more power required.
Too fancy but works well August 28, 2004 7 out of 10 found this review helpful
I don't need all the pretty lights and glowing cables. But I did need a good power supply and this fit the bill. Previous noname supply was making my computer crash all the time. This Aspire solved that problem. I could tell the old supply was going bad because the voltage readings were off by over 5%. The Aspire's readings are all within 1% - that gives me some confidence. I like the twin ball bearing fans and being able to adjust the speed keeps it fairly quiet except on real hot days - and on those days I have the other computer fans turned way up so the extra noise from increasing the power supply's fans isn't even audible. --------------------- update. 3 months later I have a fried motherboard which may have been caused by this power supply. It's hard to say since I have no way to test it but I did have to get another (different!) power supply. New power supply, motherboard and memory. expensive. I can't trust this Aspire supply anymore. If I could change the star rating it would be a 1 or 2. (a 2 only because I'm not SURE the power supply was at fault).
