Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The compact R-103 is designed to hold DV camcorders. Additional accessories, tapes, batteries, filters, charger, cables and personal essentials can be stored in the spacious arched lid compartment, the 2 outside pockets and the central mesh/vinyl pocket. The special design gives quick, separate access to the camcorder in the central compartment, while the rest of the equipment surrounding it remains secure. The R-103's ergonomic harness includes a unique cushioning and shock absorbing system, which allows for optimal ventilation, weight distribution and 5-point adjustment mechanism. The R-103 includes a well-padded dividing set, which allows you to organize it to fit your requirements. In addition, the R-103 includes a TST tripod holder with its connecting V shape device and an upper adjustable strap (the tripod can be carried on the central part of the Rucksack or on one of the sides). Especially designed Camera Straps can be attached to the D rings on the harness and will take the camera load off your neck (they can be turned into a regular camera strap by connecting to the provided extender). A detachable hip belt can be connected to the bottom back loops that are designated to attach the R-103 to KATA's EPH system. Full protection on the main zipper and KATA's unique cover make sure your sensitive equipment is well protected from the elements.

5 out of 5 stars The Perfect Bag!!!!!!   January 6, 2009
This bag is simply amazing. Keeps your gear safe and snugged. Easy to carry. Has enough space for everything you would need on your trips.

I bought it based on all the reviews I read on various web sites ([...]), being one of them, and it lives up to the praise it has received by many.

Since my purchase, most of the people I know, have purchased one for themselves.

5 out of 5 stars The perfect camera backpack   December 7, 2008

When buying this backpack I was a little worried whether or not my laptop would fit in the back. I had no reason to worry, it easily fits my 15.4" laptop. As for the storage in the front, there is so much room I am now looking for more things to buy to fill the space. The extras that come with this backpack are amazing, mine came with 2 sets of camera straps and one reflex e neck strap (that I love). On that bag it did say it was free while supplies last. The rain gear cover will be wonderful to use, and I do not think the pictures really describe the tripod holder well enough. It comes with the straps to attach it to the backpack as well as a stiff cup like pouch to hold the tripod. Hopefully this review helps. I would recommend this backpack, the only bad thing I can say about my purchase is I wish I would have waited another week to buy it because now it is even cheaper. :o)

4 out of 5 stars Fits LOTS of stuff in here   November 20, 2008

This thing fits all my gear and fells very comfortable to wear, even for long periods of time.

I have a 28-80, 70-300, 50, a Kiron lens roughly the same size as the 70-300, a 40d, lens hoods, battery charger, straps, filters, cleaning supplies, etc in this. I usually keep the 70-300 on the camera in the center. In and out without issue.

One complaint is the tripod holder. It doesn't seem "right". They list two methods to mount the tripod (on the side and on the front of the pack, right over the quick in/out). It seems like it will work, but the strap they provide seems to be the wrong strap. It doesn't hold tight and instead slowly releases. I imagine contacting the manufacturer would quickly resolve this, however I haven't done so yet. I've used a small bungee cord to hold it tight and it works great.

Besides that minor complaint, this is the best constructed bag I've ever seen. I was hesitant to order as I'd never heard of the line, but alas, it's worked far better than expected.

5 out of 5 stars Great bag, came with a camera strap.   November 7, 2008
I wont go into detail about this bag, just read the other reviews. I wanted to comment that I got mine with a free Reflex-E camera strap. You can check it out a kata-bags.com, here is a link, http://kata-bags.com/product.asp?p_Id=406&Version=Photo So far I am very happy with the bag and strap, the strap is much better then the supplied Nikon strap. The relex-E is soft and stretches just enough to absorb some of the shock of wearing a camera and walking. The card that came with the strap said for a limited time while supplies last, so if you looking to get this bag go for it and hopefully you will get a free strap also.
